FAST START

We felt inspired with an idea. It turned into a vision. We then moved to a blank piece of paper on the front of a white pad. Now, in a little over a year, our "My Legacy Quilt" is ready to share with the Body of Christ.

We started this journey with this question in our mind, "If you could share Christ with your family and friends . . . from the other side . . . would you want to?"

Our answer was yes. But we weren't sure how to do it. After much prayer, research and a series of events, we decided on a product that is still made using old-world artisan techniques . . . quilting.

As we pursued this idea we created a new design. A large 3D cross for the middle and four framed panels at the bottom, each containing a message sharing what we would say to our family and friends from the other side.

The design allows plenty of space to attach a picture of a loved one, as well as plenty of space for other individuals from past or future generations.

There is also a place for notes; poems; words of endearment; goodbyes; and thoughts of how this person was loved and will be missed from family and friends. A testament of faith and love for future generations to come.

We Experimented!

We tried different patterns to quilt My Legacy Quilt before we settled on our Leaf and Acorn pattern.  And, since My Legacy Quilt is premium, quality-crafted, and hand-made from the finest color fast fabrics and threads, we wanted to get the quilting “just right” as well.

 

Our quilt, crafted by the hands of old-world artisans and then combined with the newest technologies of dying fabrics, meets or exceeds heirloom quality products.

 

My Legacy Quilt meets and exceeds all design expectations and requirements of an old-world custom-made heirloom quilt.  We are so proud of the quality, craftsmanship and message of My Legacy Quilt.  We know you will be too.

SIZE

My Legacy Quilt is  36″ wide and 60″ long.  The perfect size to hang on any wall or on our specially made easel.

MY LEGACY QUILT has been designed to fit standard adult size caskets.  So when it is on a casket it fits from the right side of the viewing area to the end of the casket.  It can be used with flowers or without.

THICKNESS

MY LEGACY QUILT has a high-quality sateen fabric backing and an heirloom quality purple cotton front.  In the middle of these two beautiful layers is the batting.

 

Most high quality handmade quilts have one layer of batting.  In MY LEGACY QUILT we used two layers of high-loft batting.  This makes our quilt thicker and more rigid to hold up to extended periods of time hanging.

THREAD

We use excellent quality quilting thread that will hold up to the rigors of use and hanging.  The color of thread we use closely matches the purple of the top fabric.

Incidently, the design in the stitching we have chosen makes a beautiful, complex leaf and acorn pattern on the sateen back of the quilt but does not distract from the message on the front.

CUTS

Over sixty-eight cuts of fabric are made for every LEGACY QUILT.  The angles of the cuts are very important and must be extremely precise to make the 3D effect.  This is all done by hand using old-world crafting technics.

STITCHES

Each of MY LEGACY QUILTS has an astounding 47,224 stitches in the pattern of the acorn and leaf quilting.  We used so many stitches to firmly hold all four fabrics in place.

So, if someone wants to hang their quilt for years in their church or home the batting inside will not sag to the bottom.

Remember, the needle goes through all four layers of fabric and batting.  This ties the two layers of batting to the front and back fabrics.  The batting is solidly in place.

FABRIC

We use eight different fabrics in every MY Legacy Quilt.  It takes this many to create the powerful effect our quilt has on individuals.  All fabrics are of the highest quality and meet or exceed our heirloom quality standards.

PRESERVATION BOX

The preservation box for MY LEGACY QUILT matches our heirloom quality specifications.

The box is 44″ long, 8″ deep and 8″ wide.   It is constructed of beautifully grained Red Cedar with a 3D cross inlaid on the lid.   The cross is hand-crafted from Sycamore wood.

We control the quality of our box from the tree to the finished generational product.

The outside of the box is finished with a beautiful clear coat of sealer.  This consequently, allows the beautiful grain patterns of the wood to stand out.

Finally, the inside is left bare to allow the aromatic oils to repel insects, thus protecting the quilt for years to come.

My Legacy Quilt Purpose

MY LEGACY QUILT’s purpose is to give voice to believers who would choose to share their testimony of Christ, from heavens side.

Not only for now, but for future generations to come.  In hope of one day, as a family unit of generations, worshipping God together on the other side.

As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord.  (Joshua 24:15)

MY LEGACY QUILT assists the believer in identifying their “house”.  And allows future generations to draw strength and confidence in Christ from their spiritual foundation through their family heritage.

Our prayer is this.

That whether one at a time, or when God declares time to be over on this earth and all mankind stand before Him, you too can gather all your family together and walk down the streets of gold.

Then, as a group, kneel before God and worship Him and give thanks for Christ’s sacrifice that allows all those you love to be there.  And have generations of loved ones worship Him as a  . . . family.
